Posted by: | CommentsWhen you have water damage in your home don’t over look your area rugs and furnishings that may have gotten wet, according to your insurance policy it’s your right to have them professionally cleaned and dried. At Al’s Absolute Best Cleaning and Restoration we have a full service “Rug Salon”, every rug gets thoroughly analyzed by a technician to see exactly what type of cleaning is necessary for the fiber and construction of the rug.
Recently thousands of Connecticut residents experienced water damage in their homes from the unusual occurrence of “Ice Dams”, we are handling many of these claims and have several of our clients area rugs in our shop, these rugs are cleaned, dried in a drying chamber, then wrapped and placed in our storage area until the home is restored back to pre-loss conditions, then we deliver and replace rug to it’s original location.
Al’s Absolute Best takes everything to the next level, by delivering top-notch services while taking care of you every step of the way. We start at the source with Ice Dam Removal or pumping water out of your home. Next we do the entire mitigation portion of your claim, including removing all materials which have lost their integrity, drying with dehumidifiers and air movers. All of our work is carefully monitored with top-of-the-line thermal imaging cameras and moisture meters. Our work is documented and photographed to ensure your insurance claim goes smoothly!
.{Using thermal imaging to see the extent of water damage}
We actually position ourselves as consumer advocates, when it comes to mold remediation, water damage restoration or fire damage restoration, it is extremely important to have the job done right by a company that is working in your favor! It is your right as an insured homeowner to choose a company of your liking that you believe will bring your home back to the way it was using the best craftsmanship. Some of the “preferred service providers” sent by insurance companies are mostly out to save the insurance company a buck or two. These companies most likely do not have area rug cleaning plants or drying chambers etc. and may even totally neglect your rugs! Area rugs are very valuable and can be damaged easily when wet. Even if you are experiencing a water damage claim and have chosen a company, it is still your option to drop off area rugs to our location to be cleaned and sanitized properly.

Ice Damage and Roof Colapse in Colchester CT.
Posted by: | CommentsWhile out shoveling roofs, fighting ice dams and water damage the crews at Al’s Absolute Best Cleaning and Restoration have suffered their own disaster! Ice Dam and Roof Collapse at our new shop.
Water Damage hits home at Al’s Absolute Best Cleaning and Restoration Services LLC. in Colchester Ct.
I came in at 4:00 am to sort out our emergency water damage, Ice dam and snow removal jobs, calls had been pouring in all night, as soon as I walked in the back door of our Flood and Fire Restoration Company I noticed water on the floor and looked up to find a bubble of water in the ceiling and the ceiling was beginning to sag in several areas.
As I stood starring at the mess my phone rings and the terrified woman on the other end described the exact situation taking place in her kitchen
as I’m looking at the similar scenario in my own shop, I say yes ma’am
I know exactly what you mean.
Soon after that call there was a big crash! The roof of our storage building collapsed.
Water Damage is happening everywhere in the state, forced intrusion by ice dams is the #1. Reason and melting snow and ice mixed with rain that can’t seep into the frozen ground is also being forced into some homes, if you see intrusive water in your home, it’s time to notify your insurance company.
Even the smallest water damage job can turn into a much more serious mold remediation job.
Every ice dam water damage job we have encountered has been covered by the home owner’s insurance policy; do not confuse this type of coverage with flood insurance, flood insurance would be a separate policy in addition to your normal home owners insurance however if you want to add flood insurance do it now, rivers are expected to reach an all time high this spring and will cause much more flooding.

Ice Dams, Roof Rakes | Flood Insurance… CT Residents take "Crash Course".
Posted by: | CommentsThe last 2 weeks have been extremely busy for our company Al’s Absolute Best Cleaning and Restoration LLC in Colchester CT. I can surly sympathize with all the problems people are having.
We have been flooded with hundreds of phone calls from terrified home owners with Ice Dams and 75% of those homes have intrusive water entering the home, from tiny leaks around window casings to water entering every room in the house and ceilings caving in. Here is an example of what one client had set up before we arrived…
When I got my first few Ice dam calls people didn’t know what an “Ice Dam “was, some had never even heard of roof rakes!
As the calls continued you could tell that folks were quickly getting “schooled” on “Ice Dams”, learning from the news, internet and the “grape vine.”
I’m proud to have been part of that learning process, we always try to have helpful information and tips in our blog, and in the last 12 days our internet presence increased by 2675 %. That’s no “typo” people are reading our blogs!
At my company Al’s Absolute Best Cleaning and Restoration we are consumer advocates, we want to help you anyway we can,
If you haven’t read our “Insured’s Bill of Rights” blogs please do so, they are there to help you understand your policy and rights as a policy holder.
If you have any intrusive water entering your home please get out your insurance policy and file a claim! It’s that easy and it is a crucial step in getting coverage! DO NOT WAIT.
A water damage job left to dry alone could result in a huge mold problem that probably wouldn’t be covered by your insurance policies! You can even loose your mortgage or even worse your health.
Here’s another Tip: Turn the lights on in a room and look at the ceilings for obvious wet spots but also look for imperfections like cracks, stains that you don’t remember seeing before, molding separating from the ceiling, nail pop’s and bumps or bulges, if you find any of these signs make sure they are not new problems.
Look at the corners of all the rooms and check for cracks bubbling paint and imperfections in those areas. Look around all your window casings for drips and other signs of moisture, check your carpets for wet or damp areas and also look at your wood floors for signs of cupping or crowning.
One last tip, if you want to add flood insurance to your policy before the spring thaw, do it now!!! It takes 30 days to go through.
Our Crews at Al’s Absolute Best Cleaning and Restoration are out on location doing emergency work all over CT, as I write this blog. Another fact I must point out is the shortage of equipment across the state especially when it comes to roof rakes!
Roof Rakes are pretty much impossible to find, along with calcium chloride (an excellent ice melting solution), and if you are looking for a company to help you since you cant find any tools…you are going to run into a waiting list.
We love what we do, from the water damage restoration mitigation, to the re-build process we deliver the highest standards of quality and service. With quality work comes a little extra elbow grease and time.
If you are in an emergency and need someone for expert advice call us! 860 537- 1594 If you have intrusive water in your home due to an ice dam, it will keep coming in until the ice dam is removed. With all the snow CT has been getting, chances of roof collapses are higher than ever. Its easy to say that CT Residents have taken a “crash course” on ice dams, roof rakes and flood insurance this winter.
